This research aims to obtain an effective combination of various planting media and POC guano which can increase the growth and yield of curly red chili plants (Capsicum annuum L.) outside the season. This research was carried out from February 2024 to July 2024 at the INTAN Yogyakarta Agricultural Institute Experimental Garden.
The design used in this research was a factorial design with two factors arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors repeated 3 times. The first factor is the type of planting media composition (M) consisting of 4 levels, namely: M1 (Soil + goat manure), M2 (Soil + goat manure + husk charcoal + husk charcoal 75 g/polybag), M3 (Soil + manure goat + shell charcoal + shell charcoal 240 g/polybag), and M4 (Soil + goat manure + bamboo leaves 300 g/polybag). The second factor is the provision of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) (P) consisting of 2 levels, namely: P1 (No POC) and P2 (POC 4 ml/l). Components of observation variables include: plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, fresh root weight, dry root weight, root length, fruit/plant weight, number of fruit/plant. The data obtained were analyzed using variance at the 5% level and continued with the DMRT (Duncan's Multiple Range Test) further test at the 5% level.
The results showed that there was an interaction between planting media treatment and POC only on the variables of fresh root weight and root length. The best results were in the planting media treatment with the composition of soil + goat manure + bamboo leaves 300g/polybag and the planting media with the composition of soil + goat manure + charcoal husk 75 g/polybag. The planting media treatment gave results significant differences in the variables of plant height from the 2nd to 3rd week, number of leaves from the 2nd to 3rd week, weight of fruit/plant and number of fruit/plant. The best results were treated with planting media with a composition of soil + goat manure. Meanwhile, POC treatment did not have a real influence on all observed parameters.
